--------------------------------------------------------- · · · · · · A E C F O R U M - "M E M E S I S" · · · · · · · · · · · · (http://www.aec.at/memesymp/) · · · · · · --------------------------------------------------------- Greeting Geert Lovink: Best wishes from the Mind Island of DAXONIA...my name is Bruce Breland long time cybernautical artisan and member of the DAX Group. I am sending you a cc of a message to Daxonian Susan Wrbican (photographer) welcoming her participation in what we call the "net within a net".There will be eleven participants interacting with the members of the A.E Memesis panel, and it goes like this: >Once upon a time we worked out of the DAX Group studios which were located in the College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon University - Pittsburgh, PA USA. >The DAX organization was formed in the Fall of 1979. We were then known as the Gekko Group and later we became the The Digital Art Exchange (The DAX Group). In 1991 we cut the tie that binds from the university mothership and began the process of establishing ourselves as an independent trans-world artisans network. The DAX Group (DAXONIA) free from the parochial constraints of an institutional agenda and registered in the state of Washington as a non-profit organization is currently engaged in the process of reinventing itself. Those who know our work will recognize the names of Matt Wrbican,Cindy Snodgrass, Jeff Brice, and Philip Rostek as members of the original DAX Group. They are now joined by Jeff Breland who at one time operated a slowscan TV node in Baltimore, Claire McConaughy, Rosy Beyelschmidt, Lilian Bell, John Heric, and Susan Wrbican. Fine artists one and all representing the cities of Spokane and Seattle, Washington; Mcminnville, Oregon; Tucson, Arizona; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; New York City; and Cologne,Germany... Memesis in process...this September 2,1996. Bruce Breland From the Mind Island Spokane, Washington USA 31 August, 1996
